I’m writing a film treatment for Hollywood Gang, who co-produced Frank Miller’s 300. Hollywood Gang have previously optioned my graphic novel (with Chris Sprouse) OCEAN.
On my desk, the treatment is called Untitled Arthurian Project.
On their desk, the project is called EXCALIBUR.
I’m working directly with Gianni Nunnari, Oliver Kramer and Craig Flores (whom I was delighted to bump into on the Warner’s lot the other day) and having a great time.
Das könnte sehr interessant werden und mal den Weg des weichgespülten Fantasy-Films verlassen. Einer der Kommentatoren hat dieses Bild vor sich, was bei einem Autor wie Warren Ellis nicht ganz falsch ist:
Warren Ellis doing Arthur. Morgan Le Fey is going to be riding Arthur with a strap-on Excalibur, all the time calling him cockmonkey. Lancelot will be forced to watch, tied to a chair in full gimp regalia as Guinevre smashes through a window (while smoking) with a bottle of whiskey in one hand and nasty looking blade in the other.

Sucht man im Archiv des US-Magazins Life über die Google Bildersuche nach King Arthur treten verblüffende Ergebnisse zu Tage. Eine ganze Reihe Bildern des Fotographen George Skadding aus dem Jahr 1952 zeigt Menschen in “mittelalterlichen” (im Sinne von Errol Flynn) Gewandungen bei einem großen Fest mit Tunieren, Wettkämpfen und Tanz. Da sie zum Teil noch ihre Brillen tragen und durchweg im College-Alter sind, kann es sich dabei nicht um Fotos eines Filmsets handeln. Warum und zu welchem Event entsendete das Life Magazin einen ihrer besten Fotographen im Mai 1952?
